Title

Review and Discussion of Preliminary Plans for Improvements to Central Park

Body

Action Requested:

The HPC will hear a presentation from Bruce Jacobson, Consultant for the City, and discuss the preliminary plans for improvements to Central Park.

Summary Report:

The City Council recently designated Central Park a local heritage preservation site. The playground in the northern quadrant was slated for replacement in the 5-year Capitol Improvement Plan (CIP), after reviewing the condition of the playground equipment, and engaging with several user groups, Bruce Jacobson and city staff determined that the equipment was in satisfactory condition, and that funds could be better utilized.

Nearby residents have expressed concern over the condition of the circular seat wall at the center of the park, the timber edge around the playground container is in disrepair, and groups have requested more seating options. Bruce will recap the results of the public engagement and present preliminary plans for improvements for feedback from the HPC.
