Body
Action Requested:
PRAB Update-Discussion of Riverside-Lions Park Restrooms.
Summary Report:
As part of the Long-Range Plan for improvements at Riverside Lions Park, a key component in the plan is to add public restrooms by the seventh street playground, along with replacing/improving the Lion Pavillion public restrooms. The Lions Pavilion restrooms aren’t ADA accessible. The pavilion/bathroom is a key park system amenity for rentable use by the community and the City looking at ways to replace/improve the restroom facilities so they are ADA accessible.
Bruce Jacobson will share some of the exploratory work that we have been looking at for the restroom facilities. When the Park and Recreation Capital Investment Plan was approved, there was discussion at Council to pursue ½% local option sales tax to assist in funding Riverfront Parks. However, a moratorium was placed in 2023 at the legislature, however the moratorium has now ended.
Currently, the Lions playground is identified for improvements in 2029. Staff are hopeful a grant or other funding will allow for the restroom at Lions to be improved in 2029.
