Title
Update on Water Treatment Plant Public Art Integration.
Body
Action Requested:
The ACC receives and update on the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Public Art Integration.
Summary Report:
In May, the City of Northfield posted a call to artists or artist teams to design and execute site-specific art installation/s, to be located on the grounds of the Water Treatment Plant. The artist(s)/artist team will work with the WTP project team to integrate the artwork into the overall landscape design.
For full project details and call to artists, visit: <https://www.northfieldmn.gov/1635/Public-Art-Water-Treatment-Plant>
Public art review committee members are: Martha Anderson, Michael Johnson, Mathias Hughey, Justin Wagner, Annika Nguyen, Risi Karim, and Xavier Tavera.
The RFQ was shared with Codaworx, Forecast, Artwork Archive, and the Americans for the Arts (AFTA) listserv. We had interest from international artists, as well as artists working all over the United States. We received nearly 50 responses from talented artists to the RFQ and staff have worked to narrow the list to 20 qualified candidates for the PARC to review and select their top five. After the committee settles on a shortlist we will invite 3-5 finalists to present a concept for the WTP site. We have budgeted a stipend for the artists who are selected to make a proposal.
