HRA to Consider Rice County Habitat for Humanity’s $30,000 Request to Acquire 315 Poplar Street South and Commit a Future $25,000 Down Payment Assistance Loan to the Future Family.

Action Requested:
HRA to consider aiding Rice County Habitat for Humanity with $30,000 to purchase and rehabilitate a former Habitat for Humanity Home and to appropriate $25,000 from future funds to a future Habitat for Humanity participant family.
Summary Report:
The Northfield HRA’s mission is to be a partner in providing a sufficient supply of affordable, adequate, safe and sanitary dwellings in Northfield. Our goal is to create a community with housing opportunities available along the entire housing spectrum: from renters to homeownership, first-time homeowners, to senior living, workforce housing and empty-nesters. The attached Resolution assumes that the HRA will fulfill the entirety of Rice County Habitat for Humanity’s requests. If the HRA chooses any of the below Alternative Options, the Resolution will need to be updated prior to signing.
Alternative Options:
The HRA could choose not to fulfill either Rice County Habitat for Humanity’s requests. The HRA could choose to fulfill one request and not the other. The HRA could choose to partially fulfill the requests.
Financial Impacts:
HRA Reserve Balance is estimated at $713,482; $249,777 are Restricted Reserves and $463,705 are Unrestricted Reserves.
