Arts and Culture Commission Meeting Date: December 9th, 2024
To: Commission Members
From: Natalie Draper, Library Director
Title
2025 Living Treasure Award.
Body
Action Requested:
Discuss event to honor 2025 Living Treasure Award.
Summary Report:
Staff have been informed that the State of the City will not take place as expected in March of 2025 and the City is reevaluating the event going forward. In addition to that, based on feedback from the Living Treasure committee, we know that there is interest in seeing more of a spotlight placed on the individual and their accomplishments through a special event as there has been in years past, before the award became part of State of the City.
The Arts Guild, Library, and History Center, acting jointly as Culture Crew, have discussed this and determined we have the capacity to plan and execute an event this year to honor the Living Treasure. The Culture Crew, along with offered help from past honorees, would partner with the ACC to carry this out if there is support from the commission to do so. There will still be an opportunity to highlight the Living Treasure at future State of the City Events, in whatever form that event takes going forward.
Alternative Options:
The ACC may suggest other options to continue the living treasure award.
