EQC Commissioners receive a presentation on the Regional Indicators Initiative by LHB and ask questions.
Summary Report:
LHB will present updated Regional Indicators Initiative data for the City of Northfield through 2024. Northfield has participated in the Regional Indicators Initiative since 2015, and the updated dataset provides a community wide snapshot of energy use, water consumption, vehicle travel, waste generation, and associated greenhouse gas emissions. The information helps establish a baseline for measuring progress, identifying trends, and informing future climate and sustainability initiatives.
The Regional Indicators Initiative provides Minnesota communities with consistent data and tools to support local climate action and track progress toward greenhouse gas reduction goals. By collecting annual data on energy, water, travel, and waste, the program allows communities to better understand community level trends and evaluate changes over time. The presentation will provide an overview of Northfield's updated indicators and allow Commissioners to ask questions about the data and methodology.
