Consider Approval of Amended 2025-2027 Annual Service Contract for Northfield Historical Society.

Action Requested:                     

The Northfield City Council is being asked to approve a motion approving the amended 2025-2027 annual service contract to provide funding to the Northfield Historical Society for their annual services with the City.

 

Summary Report:

The City Council approved the 2025-2027 annual service contract with the Northfield Historical Society on November 12, 2024.  On January 7, 2025, the City Council approved a minor amendment for the 2025 portion of the agreement that would pay the approved amount in one installment, paid mid-January, as opposed to two installments as indicated in the initial contract.  This was a request from the Northfield Historical Society.  The contract was to remain as initially approved for 2026 and 2027.  However, the Northfield Historical Society has again requested one payment in 2026.  Staff proposes changing both 2026 and 2027 to pay the full amount in January.  Staff also supports this process going forward for all similar partner contracts since it would be more efficient for the partner organization and City staff.

Alternative Options:

Leave the contract as-is with two annual payments in 2026 and 2027 versus one up front as requested in the amendment.

 

Financial Impacts:                     

$46,500 for 2026 and $46,500 for 2027

 

This is not a change from the contact approved on November 12, 2024.

 

Tentative Timelines:                     

The amended contract would go into effect immediately.
