Consider approving Change Order No. 1 for the Street Facility Parking Lot Overlay

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves Change Order No. 1 for the Street Facility parking lot overlay for $11,864.00.
Summary Report:
City staff received bids for the Street Facility parking lot overlay, which is budgeted in the 2017 and identified in the CIP for $40,961. The low bid received was $26,956.50, which is lower than anticipated due to favorable pricing for bituminous. Staff is proposing to add the parking lot on the north side of the building (Attachment 1) to this overlay project since it is also in need of repair. The east side parking lot is included in the original bid.
The total for this project with the change order is $38,820.50, which is still under the budgeted amount. Staff recommends proceeding with the change order due to favorable pricing received for the work.
Alternative Options:
Only mill and overlay the parking lot on the east side of the Street Facility.
Financial Impacts:
$11,864.00 to add the north parking lot to the overlay project.
Tentative Timelines:
June - August 2017.
