University of Minnesota, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, Capstone Project
Body
SUMMARY:
The Humphrey School of Public Affairs has chosen to provide an analysis of the existing housing market in the City of Northfield.
BACKGROUND:
Each semester, the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota provides services to public and nonprofit organizations as part of capstone workshop projects completed nearing the end of students' graduate studies. Students work in teams for a client, conducting independent and rigorous research and producing professional, high quality analysis, recommendations, and solutions.
The student-consultant teams develop the tools and methods to complete a given project, working with faculty oversight and University resources. Client deliverables include professional reports, briefings, research, materials, and other specific tools that can be implemented immediately to address issues at hand.
Staff submitted a Capstone Project proposal to provide analysis of the existing housing market in Northfield utilizing existing studies and secondary information sources. Staff also presented the proposal at an April 11th meeting of the Capstone Project Teams at the University of Minnesota. The Northfield proposal was one of 5 projects selected by Humphrey School of Public Affairs for the summer of 2017.
ANALYSIS:
The housing market analysis provided by the Capstone Project will be valuable to the Housing & Redevelopment Authority regarding allocation of resources for future housing projects.
