TITLE

Consider Approving Plans and Specifications and Order Advertisement for Bids for the TH 246 East Side Trail Project.

BODY

Action Requested:

The City Council considers approval of the attached Resolution approving the plans and specifications and authorizing the advertisement for bids for the TH 246 East Side Trail Project (2024STRT-A79).

Summary Report:

The City of Northfield applied for, and was successful in receiving $508,000 in Local Partnership Program (LPP) funds in the Fiscal year 2024-2025 for this trail project (Attachment 2). The LPP was created to provide statewide transportation partnership opportunities with local agencies and construct highway improvements that are mutually beneficial at locations that are not currently programmed on state highways.

This trail project would complete a trail gap identified in the 2018 City of Northfield Pedestrian, Bike, and Trail System Plan on the east side of TH 246 (Division Street) from the newly constructed roundabout to the RRFB crossing located at the High School entrance.

Alternative Options:

The City Council could delay this project; however, the funding available would be lost if not expended by June 30, 2025.

Financial Impacts:

Below are the estimated total project costs, and the estimated total project funding.

Tentative Timelines:

The bids will be received on July 11, 2024 with projected award on July 16, 2024. Construction would occur during the late summer and fall of 2024
