Staff Updates on Outstanding Community Development Items and City-Wide projects

Action Requested:                     

No action. There are a number of outstanding items related to Community Development. Below is a summary update on each item. Staff will provide an update during the meeting and the Board has the opportunity to discuss each item individually if desired.

 

Summary Report:

 

City Redevelopment Projects, EDA, HRA, Planning Applications & Related Updates

  • See hyperlink on the Citys Construction & Development Map.
  • The EDA is the body responsible for the 5th and Water Redevelopment Project. An update is anticipated at the October EDA meeting.
  • Standard Companies application for bond allocation and tax credit application was approved by MN Housing Finance Agency for Jefferson Square Townhomes. The City Council will need to hold a Public Hearing October 7, 2025.
  • The citys Land Development Code is in the process of an update. One of the primary goals of the redesign is addressing legibility of the code, particularly in terms of reducing costs to build homes in Northfield.
  • City Administrators Memo attached.
