Arts and Culture Commission Meeting Date: December 9th, 2024
To: Commission Members
From: Natalie Draper, Library Director
Title
Provide Input for 2045 Comprehensive Plan.
Body
Action Requested:
Discussion/Information Only.
Summary Report:
The Comprehensive Plan is nearing completion. Rather than calling out arts and culture in one chapter, the most recent draft of the plan (attached) has taken a more holistic approach by weaving support for and access to the arts throughout the plan. You will find attention to the arts under the Decision-making Framework and STEP Analysis, as well as under Strategies and Vision and Guiding Values. Within this document, the Arts and Culture Commission should have the basis to develop a workplan that is informed by the community engagement that went into developing the comprehensive plan and aligned with city priorities.
A rubric to guide discussion in this meeting attached. References to “you” in the rubric are referring to members of the Planning Commission. The ACC should limit the scope of our discussion to what we feel is missing in terms of the role arts and culture should play in the plan. Staff will convey input from the ACC to Community Development Director Jake Reilly for consideration.
Examples of arts & culture in past our comprehensive plan:
Northfield (2008):
