Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) Update of Activities and 2019 Budget Funding Request.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council will have a presentation from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. No action proposed.
Summary Report:
For many years, the City of Northfield has given SMIF a contribution to help with programming. The earliest payment in our financial accounting software was in 2007 for $4,000 from the EDA fund. In 2010, the contribution increased to $5,000, and we have given them a $5,000 contribution each year since. The contribution originally came from the EDA, but has been from the General Fund since 2012. The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation is requesting the City of Northfield contribute $6,000 for the 2019 budget year.
Jennifer Nelson, VP of Development, will be at the meeting to make the presentation.

Financial Impacts:
Consideration of funding will be made at a future meeting. $6,000 is currently included in the preliminary budget numbers but only as an initial placeholder.
