Consider joining the Welcoming America network.

Action Requested:
The Northfield Human Rights Commission considers the possibility of asking the City to join the Welcoming America network.
Summary Report:
It the 2018-2020 Strategic Plan, the priority of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has the subheading: A Community that Welcomes Everyone. A request was made by the HRC Chair to consider working on a campaign across the city with messages of inclusion and welcoming. The Welcoming America <https://www.welcomingamerica.org/> program, a national nonprofit, is one avenue to consider for helping the city to do this.
Welcoming America network members commit to:
• Pay dues to support the network
• Host and/or participate in a Welcoming Week event (held in September)
• Participate in learning opportunities like conferences, webinars, workshops, etc.
• Complete the annual State of Welcoming Survey
• Assign at least one main point of contact and a dedicated staff person for welcoming work
• Complete Certified Welcoming pre-assessment (if a Core or Premium member)
• Pass a Welcoming Resolution (if a Core or Premium Local Government member)
