Consider Approval of Updated Administrative Policy (3.02 Personal Pronoun Sharing Policy).

Body

Action Requested:

The Northfield City Council approves a Resolution adopting the attached Personal Pronoun Sharing Policy.

Summary Report:

On August 26, 2024, the Council Employment Policy Committee discussed and made a unanimous recommendation in support of approval to an updated Personal Pronoun Sharing Policy.  After review, City Administrator Martig made some additional updates to the language.  These changes were sent back to the Council Employment Policy Committee for feedback before adding this policy to the council consent agenda. Attached you will find final policy tracked and accepted changes.

This update is part of an administrative clean up to the personal pronoun sharing policy.  Employees are covered under current policy using the council policy template. Handbook policies are only for city employees.

Council policies related to boards/elected officials AND sometimes staff are added to the council policy template.

The attached red-line update includes appointed and elected officials.  It is intended to provide the opportunity for voluntary personal pronoun sharing throughout the organization.
