Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves the attached Resolution Accepting Public Improvements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project (WSTR2022-J32).
Summary Report:
The contractor has completed all the improvements, and now the project is ready for City Council to accept public improvements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project (WSTR2022-J32). The Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project consists of additional sludge storage, primary clarification equipment upgrades, control systems upgrades, HVAC equipment replacement, roof replacement, influent lift pump replacement, card access system upgrades, office area upgrades and fence and gate updates.
City Council awarded the contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project via Resolution 2022-048 (Attachment 2) at the June 6, 2022 City Council meeting. The contractor has submitted all the required documents as laid out by the contract.
Alternative Options:
This project has been completed, and the final acceptance is needed to close out the agreement.
Financial Impacts:
Original Contract Price: $12,271,500.00
Change Order No. 1 and 2 Increase: $612,118.01
Change Order No. 3 Decrease: $894,092.42
Final Contract Price: $11,989,525.59
The current change order is a deduct for allowances that were not used. In this project, the main allowance that was not used was the installation of solar panels on the rooftops. The allowance for rooftop solar was $800,000. The City will work with Xcel Energy to continue to pursue solar at the wastewater treatment plant.
