Oath of Office Ceremony for Northfield Police Chief.

Action Requested:                     

City Clerk, Lynette Peterson, will administer the Oath or Affirmation of Office to Police Chief Jeffrey Schroepfer.

 

Summary Report:

Jeffrey Schroepfer was selected as the Police Chief for the Northfield Police Department.  We will be ceremoniously administering the Oath of Office to him as he assumes his new role in the Police Department.  This ceremony will be done in person in front of the City Council.

 

Ben Martig will introduce the Chief and City Clerk Lynette Peterson will administer the Oath of Office.  Following the oath, councilors will take a photo with the Chief and are encourage to congratulate the Chief on his new role.  Members of the Police Department and friends and family of the new chief are expected to be in attendance and will leave the Council Chambers immediately following this agenda item.

 

Police Chief Schroepfer was selected to replace retired chief Mark Elliott.  An extensive selection process led to the selection of Chief Schroepfer.  The city council approved his appointment at the August 5, 2024 city council meeting.  The chief most recently held the rank of Captain with the Minnesota State Patrol.  He was formerly a police officer in Springfield, MN and a deputy with the Meeker County Sheriff Department.
