Staff Updates on Outstanding EDA Items and City-Wide projects

No action. There are a number of outstanding items related to the EDA. Below is a summary update on each item. Staff will provide an update during the meeting and the Board has the opportunity to discuss each item individually if desired.
Summary Report:
Loon Liquor Project Update
The EDA has closed on both loans for Loon Liquors. The City also closed on the property as of March 27, 2025. Loon is in process of demolition within the building. Significant progress is being made in order to prepare for construction. The Planning Commission reviewed and provided recommendation of approval to City Council regarding the Conditional Use Permit for operating a micro-distillery within the downtown commercial district during the April 17, 2025 Planning Commission meeting. The City Council will consider the Planning Commission recommendation to approve the Conditional Use Permit at the May 6, 2025 Council meeting.
EDA Staffing Updates
The Community Development Department is hosting several interns throughout the summer. The EDA will have two dedicated interns to support programming efforts. EDA interns will be introduced during the June EDA meeting.
Economic Development Coordinator, Nate Carlson, will be on parental leave through July 4th, 2025. Please contact Community Development Director, Jake Reilly, for any EDA related items while Nate is away.
EDA Future Micro-Loan Programming
The EDA approved a budget allocation for a pilot Micro-Loan program. Staff will be preparing this item for future discussion at a later EDA meeting.
