The Heritage Preservation Commission is asked to hear updates from staff.

 

Summary Report:

1.                     City Council, boards, commissions, staff and the public are invited to a Holiday Social and Appreciation Reception! Beverages and appetizers provided. Stop in for some holiday cheer!

What:                     Holiday Social and Appreciation Reception

When:                     Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM

Where:                     Reunion, 501 Division Street

2.                     Reminder that elections for the Chair and Vice-Chair of the HPC will occur at the January 2024 meeting.

3.                     The City Council discussed Bridge Square Plans on August 8th. The consultants and staff heard a presentation updating the HPC at their December 6, 2023 meeting.

4.                     The City Council work session on September 12th included a presentation on the Ames Mill Dam. This will be presented to the HPC soon, but HPC members are encouraged to watch the work session.

5.                     The Comprehensive Plan process has started. The Kick-off meeting for Northfield 2045 Comprehensive Plan was held at Greenvale Elementary School. About 75 people attended the kick-off meeting. There will be more information and opportunities for the HPC to participate soon. 6.                     Staff are continuing to update the website. This webpage was recently added: <https://www.northfieldmn.gov/1596/Historic-Financial-Assistance>

7.                     The Minnesota Historical Society is accepting applications to serve on the Historic Resources Advisory Committee. More information at: <https://www.mnhs.org/preservation/legacy-grants/advisory-committee-member>

8.                     The City has updated the Construction and Development site with more information: <https://www.northfieldmn.gov/291/Construction-Development-Projects>

9.                     The City Council reviewed revised plans for the Transit Hub and Pavilion adjacent to the Northfield Depot on August 8th.

10.                     The National Alliance of Preservation Commissions released a messaging guide for local preservation programs: <https://www.napcommissions.org/messaging-guide>
