Consider Approval of a Temporary Liquor License for St. Dominic School for March 26, 2022.

Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council hereby approves a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for St. Dominic School for March 26, 2022 at their school grounds at 216 Spring Street North subject to the following:
a. Applicant is responsible to ensure compliance with all local and state regulations.
b. Non-compliance with conditions will result in the license being revoked.
c. License shall be issued upon:
1. Completion and submission of all required documents.
2. Receipt of approval from Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division.
3. Approval of event layout and enclosures by the Chief of Police or designee.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to consider approval of the above motion for a temporary liquor license for St. Dominic School for March 26, 2022 at 216 Spring Street North. The request comes from St. Dominic School for their annual fundraiser event which supports school operations.
The City may, with the approval of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division, issue a temporary on-sale license for the sale of intoxicating liquor in connection with a social event within the city sponsored by the licensee, to a club or charitable, religious, or other nonprofit organization in existence for at least three years. St. Dominic School qualifies as a religious organization in existence for at least three years. The application has been checked for compliance with Minnesota State law and City Code and meets all requirements. The application must be approved by the City before being submitted to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for final approval of the license. Staff recommends approval.
Alternative Options:
The City Council could deny the temporary permit, add additional conditions or delay action to a future meeting.
Financial Impacts:
The applicant has paid the $350 license fee for a temporary liquor license.
Tentative Timelines:
Licenses must be sent to the Minnesota Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division for review and approval a minimum of 30 days prior to the event.
