Body

Action Requested:

EQC reviews Earth Day activities related to the Commission's participation.

Summary Report:

Northfield’s Earth Day Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The City will continue its support of the event with a $500 sponsorship, funded through the Carbon Reduction Fund.

The Earth Day Steering Committee has invited City staff to participate in a forum focused on extreme weather and flooding in the Northfield area.

The forum, titled Let’s Adapt: Flooding and Resiliency in Northfield, will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 PM, with the location yet to be determined. James McDermott, the City’s Water Quality Technician, will serve as a panelist and present History of Cannon Flooding, Local Impacts, and the Approval of the Riverfront Project. Commissioner Daniel Jones will also participate in the discussion.

Further discussion is needed on the Commission’s role in Earth Day tabling. As part of the City’s sponsorship, a table is available for use, and the Commission will determine how it would like to participate.
