Presentation of Donation of Fire Suppression Tools to Police and Fire Departments.

Action Requested:
The Northfield Masonic Lodge will present Fire Suppression Tools to the police and fire departments.
Summary Report:
The Northfield Masonic Lodge (Masons) was able to raise enough donations to donate Fire Suppression Tools (FSTs) to the Northfield Police Department and Northfield Area Fire and Rescue. These tools will be carried in the first response vehicles as a quick suppression device to attempt to knock down or put out a fire.
Grant Lillevold and others from the Masons wish to present the devices to the police and fire departments before the city council.
With how fast today’s fires spread, Fire Suppression Tools are a tool designed to “buy more time” to get a larger fire department response thus saving property and possible injury or death.
With this donation, 13 of the devices would be placed in each police patrol vehicle and 3 would be placed in each NAFRS first arriving officer vehicle. These are the true “first” responders of the community who would have the ability to quickly deploy the FST.
A resolution accepting the donation from the Northfield Masonic Lodge of Fire Suppression Tools to the Northfield Police Department is a separate item on the consent agenda.
