Title
Consider Resolution Accepting Public Improvements and Approving Final Payment for the Lincoln Waterway Box Culvert Improvement Project (STRM2022-K36).
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council approves the attached Resolution - Lincoln Waterway Box Culvert Improvement Project (STRM2022-K36) and Approving Final Payment for the Project.
Summary Report:
The City Council is being asked to accept the public improvements for the Lincoln Waterway Box Culvert Improvement Project (STRM2022-K36) and approve final payment to Heselton Construction, LLC in the amount of $35,452.04 (Attachment 2). The contract was awarded to Heselton Construction, LLC. at the April 2, 2024, City Council Meeting in the amount of $733,939.00. The final contract amount was $709,040.71.
One notable increase in the project was the cost of the railroad track removal. The original cost to have the railroad tracks removed and reinstalled was estimated to be $47,400.00 but ended up costing $108,800.00 due to fiber lines running along the railroad tracks that were discovered during construction. This required double the amount of railroad track removal and reinstallation to accommodate the culvert replacement. Even with the increase, the project still came in under the approved project budget.
Alternative Options:
This project is completed and the final acceptance and payment is required to close out the construction contract.
Financial Impacts:
The total project costs for the project were $994,354.11. The tables below detail the final total project costs and final total project funding. The $7,339.00 for the Public Arts Policy funding was allocated at the time of Project Award.
Tentative Timelines:
Upon acceptance by the City Council, the final payment will be processed and sent...
