PRAB Meeting Date: August 5, 2024
To: Park and Recreation Advisory Board
From: Charlie Fredericks, Streets and Parks Manager
Title
The Park and Recreation Board receives an update on the Riverside Lions Park Long-Range Plan implementation progress.
Body
Action Requested:
The Northfield Park and Recreation Advisory discusses the proposed concept for the playground (7th Street) and the process for additional community engagement and feedback on the plan moving forward.
Summary Report:
The Northfield Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will review a brief presentation from staff and Bruce Jacobson updating the Board on the status of implementing elements of the Long-Range Plan for Riverside Lions Park which was approved in April.
Updates will primarily focus on the current design concepts for the playground near 7th Street, which is programmed into the 2025 CIP for replacement. Staff will present the current concept design for the playground, the plan for public engagement in the coming months, and an overview of the tentative timeline between now and installation.
In the coming months, the tentative timeline is for staff to work on refining the concept design based on Board and work group feedback, develop a more formalized plan that will provide a higher level of detail into the play features, materials, etc. and hold an open house to hear feedback from the public on the proposed plan before finalizing. The goal is to have a final approval of the playground design by December 2024, so that the order can be placed in January 2025, and installation can occur in the spring.
