Action Requested:
The Northfield City Council amend the 2024 police budget to use Public Safety Aid funds to cover the cost of the Sigma Wellness program.
Summary Report:
Sigma wellness offers a screening program for detecting heart related risk factors for police officers. Police officers have a shorter life expectancy than the general public and a higher incidence of heart attack as well as earlier age onset of heart related diseases. Information on the Sigma Wellness research and program will be presented along with a proposal to start this program for screening and risk reduction for Northfield officers in 2024.

Financial Impacts:
Approximately $12,000-$18,000 depending on participation. The source of funding is fund balance in the General Fund related to Public Safety Aid funds that were previously received.
